My Top 5 Personal Moments of 2011

As this year is quickly wrapping up, I’ve been looking back on 2011 and thinking about my most favorite moments from throughout the year.  Whenever we approach a new year, I like to look through the photos that I’ve taken during the past year.  I do this to see how I’ve progressed and remind myself of all of the spectacular times I’ve had.

I also want to thank my readers for visiting my blog and checking out what I’ve been up to.  I hope my posts have been helpful to you.  Happy New Year, and I wish you all the best of luck in 2012!

So without further ado, here are my top five personal moments of 2011 in no particular order.

Getting my Fujifilm X100

This camera has made me fall in love with photography all over again.  After getting it back in July, I have really gotten into street photography and doing street portrait work with it.  Its size and light weight makes carrying it around not as much of a burden as large DSLR’s.  I take it everywhere I go.  Most of my X100 work can be found here at 500px.

Shooting for the Washington Kastles

Me with Coach Murphy Jensen and Rennae Stubbs at SteakerBall VIII in Washington D.C.

I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the Washington Kastles and their perfect 16-0 season from their home opener, to their championship win in Charleston, SC.  It was a great experience, and it was wonderful getting to meet and work with the Kastles staff and team.  You can read more about the fun times here, here, and here.

A Small Act of Giving goes a Long Way

This was one of, if not the most, rewarding things I have ever done with photography.  This moment is something that I will never forget, and I hope it inspires others to lend a helping hand when it is needed.  Since posting this video, I have seen this gentleman several times, and I’m always sure to say hello and ask how he is doing.

Photographing my Grandpa

Personal work is always important to produce in order to keep yourself creative and in love with photography.  I love photographing people in their daily environments, and I came up with the idea of photographing my grandpa in his living room.  He occasionally asks what I do as job, and this was a great way for him to see first hand the type of work I do and how it’s done.  You can read more about it all here and here.

Photographing my 1966 Ford Mustang

I had been wanting to photograph this car for the longest time.  The car being in Pennsylvania and needing to find a great location in my hometown made it a little challenging with me being in D.C.  Despite the distance, planning the shoot finally came together, and I’m thrilled with how it all came out.  You can read about the shoot and look at BTS photos here.
