DIY: Ring Flash
As you may already know from previous posts, I am a huge fan of DIY projects…especially when they save you $400. Last month I came across a very interesting DIY project on Flickr for making a ring flash. Since I have been eying up ring flashes and pushing myself to finally break down and purchase one, I thought I should give this a shot first.
Check out more photos of the building of the ring flash and an example shot after the jump.
With the help of my dad, and his fancy tools, it took us a whole two days to complete this. It probably only took that long because we wanted to make it as perfect as possible. We made some minor changes to our design and also replicated some changes that others had also made to this DIY project.
I must say that I am perfectly content with the results that the ring flash produces, and I will probably put off purchasing a legit ring flash for a while longer. It is a perfect alternative for those who are not wanting to put a large chunk of money into lighting at the moment and still get the effect of a ring flash.

If you decide to take a stab at this project, best of luck and check out the link below to see where I got the design and in-depth details on how to create this.
