Friends in the Field: Emily Abril

As part of a new series of posts here on my blog, I will be introducing you all to some of my friends who are also photographers. As photographers, we share a common bond through our passion for photography which identifies who we are as individuals and artists. What you’ll learn about each of these people is who they are and what makes them the terrific photographers they are.
I have decided to open this series up with a good friend that I’ve worked long nights with only to wake up a few hours later and see them at work again. It has been wonderful to watch this great friend and wonderful photographer grow and improve as an artist since I first met her a few years ago.
I met Emily Abril while working together at a high-end professional portrait studio in Gaithersburgh, MD. She started her job there somewhat new to photography, and she was not hesitant or intimidated about getting in the studio and learning how everything worked. However, what Emily did not know was that the job was going to change her life and in time, she would capture some of the most treasured moments in the lives of people and pets.
Emily stands out as one of the best newborn and pet photographers in the Washington, DC area. Her dedication and love for photographing infants, toddlers, and pets of all kinds can clearly be seen in her work as it leaves you with a near-endless smile. She is always thinking of new ideas that never cease to amaze me. From putting a sleeping baby holding drumsticks on a snare drum to putting a puppy in a purse hanging from a tree, she’ll leave you amazed every time.
