Macro photography with your iPhone

It’s been a while since my last DIY post so why not whip something up that feeds my obsessive love affair with my iPhone. Yes, the iPhone has definitely replaced my old Canon Powershot as my take-every snapshot camera. But what about when I want to take some macro shots? Go ahead, try it. You can’t get too close to the subject or it will just go out of focus.
I’ve seen a few solutions to this on the internet, such as using a DVD player’s lens or even something as simple as a drop of water on the iPhone’s lens. After sitting around and dissecting an old disposable Polaroid camera, I noticed the clear piece of plastic that was placed over the lens. I removed the lens from camera housing and instantly knew what I could use it for. Since this was an old Polaroid disposable camera, I’m sure it’d be kind of tough to find one for yourself to use. I’d suggest tearing open an old 35mm disposable camera to see if its plastic lens will do the trick.
