No more paper model releases for me

Say goodbye to the days of having to pack and carry paper model/property releases with you to your photoshoots. Those were the days of 2009 when that business was all done with a pen and paper. Thanks to Robert Giroux and the guys at ApplicationGap, model releases and property releases can now be filled out and signed all on your iPhone.

Easy Release ($9.99) takes all of the inputted information and signature and emails you a copy of the release in PDF format.  There is also the option to be sent a JPEG version as well if that suits you better.  After receiving the digital copy of the release in your inbox, you can then forward it off to your subjects and or property owners.

Gorillacam for the iPhone

This has been a good week for photographers who carry around an iPhone.  A new app by Joby called Gorillacam is now available for you all to hurry over to the App Store and snatch up.  It adds some fun and new features that are not available with iPhone OS’s current camera.

Features and another screen shot are available after the jump.

Lighting Diagrams, iPhone Style

You along with many other photographers can now stop drawing your lighting diagrams on napkins or whatever else you can scrounge up to share with your friends.  Strobox has just been introduced to the App Store for all photo geeks to download.  I have played around with the app a little, and the interface is very easy to use.  It’s another great way to share your techniques with your friends/followers or keep track of your lighting setups from past photoshoots.  So hurry on over to the App Store and get this on your iPhone now!

Giving Back, It’s Essential

This weekend I will be participating in a world-wide effort in which people will be coming together to give back to their communities.  It is a collaborative movement for the simple purpose of providing professional quality portraits to those who are less fortunate and even connect with them on a personal level.  There are people participating in cities all across the U.S. as well as the rest of the world.

I encourage you all to visit the Help-Portrait.com and participate in a nearby city.  If your city does not have an event set up, you’re capable of doing so.

Just remember.  You don’t have to be a photographer to take part in this effort, nor is it the only opportunity to give back to your community.  Help out this month and throughout the year at your local shelters, soup kitchens, or wherever else would welcome a helping hand.

The Beginning

So I have finally started my own photography blog. With how social media continues to grow and the internet continues to be a valuable source of information, I figured it was time to join in the fun and share whatever knowledge I have.

The main purpose for starting this blog is to share information. As more people share what they know about photography, the industry and skill level of photographers around the world will improve and constantly advance.

What I plan to share with you all are my techniques with using the camera, lighting, Photoshop, and whatever else comes to mind. I plan on taking you on set with me via video to show you what it takes to create future photographs and how much fun it is. I am also a huge fan of DIY (do-it-yourself) projects. As I find ones that I really like or develop on my own, I will share them here for you to try.

I will also share any behind the scenes news. This could be anything from what new equipment purchases I may be eying up, publications, or even general news and my thoughts about the photo industry.

I look forward to hearing any feedback as time goes on, and I promise to do my best with posting as much as I can!
